Prayer for Tauranga

Lord, we declare Tauranga to be a city of great peace and hope, a launching place for new things, and a plentiful storehouse for the nations.

Pour out Your Spirit, and let every person encounter You for who You truly are. Let all bear witness to the glory of God revealed in this place, and the radiance of Your glory go out from this place and into the nations.

We ask that our city Tauranga would come into the fullness of its name as a ‘safe harbour’, and be a place that is wholeheartedly dedicated to You. We also ask that our city be a place of refuge and safety, where people would find rest for their souls, and where we Your People would be conscious of welcoming Your presence.

We repent and ask You to forgive us where we have sinned against You, both by us and by those who have gone before us. We ask that you heal our land and that every transgression would be brought to light.

We ask Father, in the name of Jesus, that you would cause reconciliation between all peoples in our region and that true forgiveness be extended and intentionally lived and walked out. We ask every heavy burden be lifted off and the fruit of forgiveness be upon us, the People of this land. We’re asking the power of the blood of Jesus to wash away every defilement done against this land in Jesus name. Grant us understanding of the full council of Your redemptive purpose in the Bay of Plenty, for the glory of Your name.

Bring the light of Jesus to the hidden places, and cleanse our land from all unrighteousness and unholiness. Raise up the voices of many to stand for justice, mercy, and righteousness.

We ask that love would abound and increase in us. Thank you for the grace to walk in humility with one another and the grace the anointing of the Holy Spirit to prefer others above ourselves – that fruit of the Holy Spirit may be manifest, be experienced through us, and transform our city from the inside out.

In Jesus name.

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)
